The Fastest Car In The World Is….

So we’ve gone through the top 49, and here is the fastest car in the world, the Shelby Super Cars (SSC) Ultimate Aero. The 1287 hp V8 powers this carbon fibre clad “Hyper-car” all the way to 257mph! It gets to 60 mph in 2.78 seconds, and will power it’s way down a 1/4 mile strip in 9.9 seconds. This is one FAST car!

1. Shelby Super Cars (SSC) Ultimate Aero – 257mph

Interesting to know that SSC are working on (and will be producing) the Ultimate Aero EV. This will be the first 200mph+ electric car powered by a single 500bhp electric motor. It’s worth mentioning that SSC are playing around with bolting 2 of their 500bhp motors together for a 100hp electric Hyper-car. Who says you can’t have an economical Hypercar?

Check out this cool custom green electric chopper, the first electric chopper in the world. Siemens announced that it has teamed up with renowned custom motorcycle manufacturer Orange County Choppers to build the first custom electric motorcycle.

The “Siemens Smart Chopper,” which will be featured on the hit TV show American Chopper, was unveiled in an event at the Time Warner Center.

You’ve heard of cool camper vans but have you heard of a camper bike! Artist Kevin Cyr worked on the Camper Bike in 2008, though little is revealed about the technical specs, it looks like an overgrown tricycle with a camper shell that’s been sawed in half (maybe even thirds). A concept sketch below shows room for a couch, a bed and a desk/table with a TV. Cool!

As sidecars go, this is cool! We bet that’s what Francois Knorreck said to himself when he started work on this unique motorcycle-car 10 years ago. He used a Laverda motorbike and put together the car using whatever parts he got his hands on.

The Snaefell is a completely hand crafted vehicle, the frame, the wiring harness and, of course, the amazing body, which itself used 63 molds for the parts made of polyester or carbon fiber. Some parts were sourced from Renault, Citroen, BMW, VW and Audi. The entire 10,000 hour project comes in around 15,000 Euros, which, at today’s rates, is about $21,000.

Power is from the original 1000cc Laverda triple which gets a matching triple exhaust out the back of the bodywork. The interior, complete with seatbelts, looks like a factory build. The door opens up Lamborghini style. Just stunning work.

When asked about cool cars and which is the coolest, the Bugatti Veyron will always be up there with the best of them. Here we showcase some amazing pictures (which make cool wallpapers) and video of this beast. The cool Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport is the world’s fastest convertible. With a top speed of 407kmh (252mph) it tops the former record holder, Ferrari’s Scuderia Spider 16M, by 92kmh (57mph).

The powerful 1,001HP roadster boasts a 0-100km/h (0-62mph) time of just 2.5 seconds and, as you’d hope, comes fitted with ceramic brakes for cool, controlled stops from high speeds. These impressive speeds are achievable when the convertible’s polycarbonite roof is fitted, but is engineered with drag reduction in mind – fetching as much as 360kph/224mph with the roof off. If you don’t care for the hassle of a rigid roof, Bugatti have come up with a unique umbrella-like cover (video below) that will protect the interior from the rain and fold back down in a snap.

The Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport’s chassis and panels are made from both carbon fiber and aluminum, in a complex re-engineering of the coupe model to maintain crash protection with the roof-less structure. The tires for the car were made specially by Michelin to withstand the high temperatures generated at its high speeds. They will apparently cost  $17,000 or £12,000 to replace.

Only 150 examples of this €1.4 | $1.75 | £1.25 million supercar will be made, with around 40 to 50 going to registered Bugatti owners. Unlike with Shelby’s Ultimate Aero, Bugatti are sticking to their old-school roots and will not be releasing an electric version, despite the price tag.

Celebrating the cool Bugatti car at the 2009 Villa d’Este Concorso d’Eleganza, Bugatti presented 4 “Centenary” models! to mark the company’s 100th anniversary. The four new cars are part of the Bugatti’s centenary celebrations paying tribute to four legendary Bugatti drivers who drove the Type 35 racing car prior to World War II. These include French driver Jean-Pierre Wimille, Italian driver Achille Varzi, English driver Malcolm Campbell and German driver Hermann Zu Leininger.

Here are the four Bugatti Centenary models:

The Bugatti brand is almost inextricably linked to the Type 35. The Type 35 Grand Prix was by far one of Bugatti’s most successful racing models and its unmistakable radiator grille and 8 spoke aluminum wheels have become one of the coolest features of Bugattis latest efforts, namely the Veyron.

Each of the four new Veyron Centenaire Editions get their own specially mixed color scheme, and these colors consist of blue, red, beige and green. Additionally, other exclusive aesthetic details include the grille, front wings, and doors being made of polished aluminum to give off a mirror effect. Inside, the headrests bear one of the signatures of the four legendary drivers, and there is also a special commemorative plate detailing the significance of the cars.

What happens when Russians design a cool super car? You get the successor to the first Russian super car, the B1. It’s the Marussia B2 and it’s got super cool looks to shame a Ferrari Enzo and supposedly a 420HP Cosworth mill.
